Japan Does Not Have A Great Future

Japan is one of my very favorite countries in the whole world. I'm extremely keen on Japan in fact I would probably live here except I want my children to speak Mandarin. But if you spoke Mandarin, I would probably live in Japan as it's such a fantastic place to visit and live.

Having said that, it grieves me because I see serious problems in Japan which is the point of this book. I am a foreigner and I know that the Japanese don't like foreigners but this this book is not really a foreigners book it is based on simple arithmetic whether you're Japanese or not Japanese the arithmetic is the same.

Every day the debt goes higher, there's addition and there's subtraction because every day the population declines in Japan. Everything can go wrong. You have a central bank which is printing staggering amounts of money every day and buys Japanese shares and Japanese bonds.

I'm old enough to remember and maybe some of you are that if even 30 years ago somebody had said, "Oh, the central bank of a major economy and a major country is going to print huge amounts of money and buy shares in its stock market." people would have walked away. They wouldn't listen to you anymore, so incomprehensible, inconceivable that that could happen even 30 years ago.

But look out the window, it's happening every day in Japan right now while the population declines and the debt goes up. So, I mean as far as I can see Japan doesn't have a great future.

Japan Is Risking A Decline In Standards Of Living

“You either have babies, immigrants or declining standard of living. You have decided to have declining standard of living. If that’s what Japan wants, do it. Seventy-thousand immigrants a year for a country of 125 million people doesn’t solve the problem.”

Markets: Russia, China, Japan

I am still buying shares in China, Russia, Japan and some parts of the world if I find something good. The US stock market is at an all-time high and I don't particularly like buying things at all-time highs.

Everybody Owns The Same Stocks

Everybody owns the same things, it is eve more narrowly focused now than in previous bull markets because it is now so easy to buy exchange traded funds (ETFs). If you own stocks that are in ETFs, I want to know what they are. These are the stocks that have not been going through the roof, that are still cheap.

The Worst Financial Crisis In Our Lifetimes

We're going to have the worst financial crisis in our lifetimes because of the debt. There is no question that the debts are now staggering. We've never seen the likes in the world and in Japan they have zero interest rates, negative real interest  rates so if interest rates ever go up to 2%, it totally destroys Japan.

Investing: My Thoughts On Japan

Japan has staggering debt as we all know, they have a declining population and the debt is going through the roof. Mr. Abe says he's going to do whatever it takes, he'll print as much money as it takes and he'll spend as much money as it takes. That cannot last. It never occurred to me that the next financial crisis might start in Japan but Japan is certainly certainly going to be a big  problem!

By the way I own Japanese shares and I'm buying more Japanese shares today just so you know but if I were a ten year old Japanese I would get myself an AK-47 or I would leave because in his lifetime or her lifetime that place is going to be a disaster.

Not Jumping Into Markets Making All-Time Highs

I own markets like Japan (iShares MSCI Japan ETF(EWJ)), China (iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF (FXI)) and Russia (Market Vector Russia ETF Trust (RSX)) that are not making all time highs and if the rally continues I hope I make a little money as well but I am not jumping into markets making all time highs.

I'm Very Worried About the Global Economy

I am very worried about the global economy in the next few months. First of all it has been 8 years since we had an economic recession in America. Historically we had them every four to seven years. There are many problems in the world economy. Donald Trump has promised a tare war with Mexico, China, Korea, Japan... If he does that, my God, we are going to have serious problems! Some Countries Are Already In A Recession

I assure you there will be a recession. Some places are already in recession, Japan is already in recess. It`s here. People who do not think there will be a recession, look out the window. Many countries and many sectors are already having recessions.
