Investing: Agriculture Commodities Are Less Vulnerable

Well, agriculture has been going down over the past several years. I would consider agriculture less vulnerable and perhaps even a place to make money on the upside because things have been down for so long.

Bullish on Agriculture

Jim Rogers has recently shared his thoughts on the agriculture sector and explain why he is so bullish on agricultural commodities:

"No one wants to be a farmer anymore, as compared to the past, when farmers were like masters of the universe for a long period of time."

"The agriculture sector has been a disaster for 35 years. Things are so bad. The average age of an American farmer is 58, the average age in Japan is 68. And do you know that the highest suicide rate in the UK is in the agricultural sector?"

Investment Opportunity: Agriculture In The US

Agriculture in America is pretty depressed right now as you probably know maybe an area where there's an investment opportunity. But just because something is depressed doesn't mean you should be investing there because it can stay depress for a long, long, long time. You have to find a change that's taking place as well. Something can be depressed from 15 or 20 years, you have to find the change and change doesn't happen every day but if you can find something cheap and if you can find a positive change maybe you should do more homework and find an investment.

Commodities: Coal, Steel and Agriculture

I'm a director of a coal company so we obviously should worry about Chinese coal. I do own commodities yes, but Steel is not high on my list because it's there's no real active futures market but some commodities I'm very optimistic about. Agriculture's been a disaster for 35 years it's changing in my view.

Markets: Paper Currencies, Real Assets & Agricultural Land

As long as paper currencies are being debased, you are going to need real assets. I do not own agricultural land but it might make sense to buy it now and in fact it is one of the few assets that I would consider buying now. Agriculture: I Am Very Optimistic For The Next Decade

Agriculture has been a horrible business for over 30 years. The average age of farmers in Amrica is 58 years old, in Japan its 66. I could go on and on with horrible statistics about people dying, getting out of the business, committing suicide.

More people in America study Public Relations than study Agriculture. So, we are going to have a crisis in Agriculture soon unless something happens. If the prices of food do not go up we are not going to have any food at any price. I am very optimistic about agriculture in the next decade or two.
